R v. D.N. [Okotoks Provincial Court]

The client was charged with sexual assault with a weapon and common assault. The client was facing a minimum four-year jail sentence upon conviction. Tonii Roulston reviewed the file and entered vigorous negotiations with the Crown Prosecutor. Tonii Roulston highlighted and argued the inconsistencies in the Crown’s case, and as a result, secured a common law peace bond for her client. The client avoided any jail sentence, did not receive a criminal conviction on his record, and will not be registered as a sex offender.
