R. v. J.R. [Calgary Provincial court]

The client was charged with domestic assault, assault with a weapon, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. It was alleged that the client beat and choked his wife, kicked down the door, and pulled a knife on her. The matter was scheduled for trial. The client faced a possible jail sentence, and due to his immigration status if convicted possible deportation. Robin McIntyre had several discussion with the crown regarding resolution prior to trial. On the day of trial, a resolution was reached. The client entered into a peace bond and the charges were withdrawn.
Successful result: All charges were withdrawn and the client was able to remain in Canada.
