R v K.B. [Calgary Provincial Court]

After allegedly beating an elderly man with a baseball bat, the client was charged with attempted murder, 2 counts of forcible confinement, assault, break and enter, and 3 counts of breaching court orders. The client pled guilty only to aggravated assault, and all other charges, including the attempted murder allegation, were withdrawn. He was sentenced to a short term of probation and ‘time served’ meaning he would serve no additional incarceratory days.
