Four people acquitted of conspiracy to murder Didsbury man
A day after a Calgary judge ruled a forgetful witness’ police statement was inadmissible, the Crown on Thursday conceded acquittals for four people charged in a Didsbury murder conspiracy.
Prosecutor Deanna Dahlseide Haase told Court of Queen’s Bench Justice Robert Hall she would not be urging a conviction against Donna Faulkner, Joseph Aubut, Jesse Hoffman and Austin Graham for conspiring to murder Faulkner’s former boyfriend, John Hornby.
The concession followed a ruling by Hall that a statement given to Mounties by witness David Matschke, implicating all four in a plot to attack Hornby, could not be entered into evidence for its truth.
