Sandra Shlah joined Roulston Urquhart Criminal Defence in November 2023 while completing her National Committee on Accreditation (NCA) examinations. She is currently articling under the supervision and mentorship of Tonii Roulston and is expected to be called to the bar in early 2026.

Since joining the firm, Sandra has gained experience working on a wide range of criminal matters, including cases involving sexual assault, manslaughter, child pornography, sexual interference, domestic violence, and other violent offences.
Sandra earned her Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Psychology from the University of Calgary in 2019. She went on to obtain her Bachelor of Laws with Honours from Queen Mary University of London in the United Kingdom, graduating in 2023.

Before pursuing law, Sandra worked at Hull Services, a residential facility supporting children and youth with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD), autism, and complex mental health needs. This experience provided her with valuable insight into the challenges faced by vulnerable and at-risk youth—insight that continues to inform her approach to criminal defence.

Sandra’s interest in criminal law is shaped not only by her academic background but also by personal experiences that have given her a meaningful perspective on the justice system and deepened her commitment to the work. She is committed to providing dedicated and compassionate advocacy to clients facing some of life’s most difficult challenges.
