Our client was charged with assault against his wife, the complainant. The client had a history of mental health and substance abuse issues. The complainant did not report the alleged assaults until after the parties separated. Tonii Roulston pointed out issues with the complainant’s credibility by pointing to inconsistencies in her statement, along with her motive to fabricate, to the Crown. After the client attended counselling and received help for his mental health issues, Tonii was able to negotiate for a Peace Bond, resulting in no conviction or criminal record for the client.
