Kirsten Lancee defended KD against allegations of assaulting his domestic partner causing bodily harm.
KD was a permanent resident and faced immigration consequences if convicted. Kirsten entered rigorous
negotiations with the Crown, arguing that her client acted in self-defence and in response to the
complainant’s violent actions. The Crown agreed that there were triable issues and Kirsten secured her
client a peace bond in advance of trial. KD has no criminal record and avoids immigration consequences
as a result.
