Kirsten Lancee defended NC against allegations of sexual assault and assault with a weapon. Kirsten
wrote a s. 276 application to introduce evidence of the complainant’s current boyfriend at trial.
Additionally, Kirsten argued that the screenshots provided by the complainant, allegedly capturing a
conversation with her client, were fake and should not be admitted into evidence. Upon further
investigation into the screenshots, the Crown determined that there was no reasonable likelihood of
conviction. The Crown invited the Court to dismiss the charges and NC was acquitted. NC has no
criminal record as a result.
