Kirsten Lancee defended BM against sexual interference. The client had provided a voluntary,
Charter-compliant confession to police prior to obtaining a lawyer and was extremely remorseful. The
Crown’s initial sentencing position was 6-8 years’ incarceration. Kirsten negotiated with the Crown and
assisted her client in obtaining significant counselling in advance of the sentencing. As a result, Kirsten
secured a 2-year jail term for BM in the Court of King’s Bench.
