R v GB

Andrea Urquhart and Kirsten Lancee defended GB at trial against 2 counts of second-degree murder and
1 count of attempted murder. At trial, GB was acquitted of attempted murder. GB was additionally
acquitted of both counts of second-degree murder following his appeal to the Alberta Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal unanimously decided that the trial judge lacked any reliable evidence to believe that
GB was the offender who had committed the homicides. In January 2026, GB was found not guilty of
second-degree murder and attempted murder.
